The Pumpkintown Fire Department is a rural volunteer fire department in the mountains of South Carolina. We continually strive to make improvements in our fire department and in our equipment.
Established in 1979, the all volunteer department covers approximately 97 square miles of the most beautiful country in America. With the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background, and numerous creeks, rivers, and ponds, the Pumpkintown community is a wonderful place to call home.
Our new Fire Engine in front of Table Rock.
We are proud to announce the addition of a 2011 Fire Engine to our fleet! Our firemen, no matter how well trained, or brave in the face of fire, cannot do an adequate job without decent equipment. We feel like we've upgraded from a horse-drawn buggy to a Limo with this awesome new engine! Finally, we can jump in the cab without worrying if the truck we're in will start up when we turn the key! Thank you to everyone of you who supported us in our fundraising efforts, and sent in donations to help us reach this goal! We appreciate you!
We Need Help...
There are many government and private institutions that accept applications for grants. Our problem: Pickens County no longer employs a grant writer, and frankly, we are not experienced in writing grants. If there is somone who does have experience writing grants, and would be willing to donate some time to helping and teaching us the proper proceedures in grant writing, we would REALLY appreciate the help!
